MTL is well known in the Vermont and New Hampshire conservation & forestry communities as being responsible stewards of the lands we manage. We manage about 34,000 acres of our own land and over 50,000 acres of private land throughout Vermont & New Hampshire from our main office in New London NH.
Minimum qualifications include a two-year degree with a strong skill in time management, multi-tasking, attention to detail, work prioritization, excellent written and verbal communication, well organized and planning skills. We are willing to train the right individual. The successful candidate will need to live within 45-minute drive of New London, New Hampshire. Salary will be based on experience and abilities. Overview
Manage the day to day operations of a small family owned forestry company. Essential duties include cash operations, accounting for weekly forestry income, accounts receivable, accounts payable, journal entries, month end close, monthly financial reporting to all partners. It also included all human resource functions such as payroll, insurance, 401K, new hire reports and State and Federal Taxes.
Support the Managing Forester and three other foresters with any special projects or day to day office needs. Create and maintain a pleasant work environment, providing high levels of organizational effectiveness, communication and quality administration, ensuring the day to day business runs smoothly. Working with tenants to meet their needs is also essential.
Advanced Excel knowledge is essential to this position and prior QuickBooks knowledge is helpful. Should be comfortable with using the computer, online banking and Microsoft office products.

Outline of Responsibilities

• Full Charge Bookkeeping for three family owned companies
• Process Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable in a timely manner
• Process 1099’s at yearend
• Weekly cash deposits and monthly reconciliation
• Timber Sale Accounting
• Property Tax Accounting
• Human Resources including but not limited to Payroll, 401K & Profit Sharing, State of NH Annual reports,
Health insurance renewals and workers comp insurance and audits.
• Preparation of monthly financial statements
• Yearend close providing CPA with all necessary files
• Manage business compliance and reporting
• Rental – Lease Management
• Maintenance of all insurances
• Ordering and maintaining office supplies, manage contract cleaning
• Maintaining Office Equipment & obtaining necessary repairs
• Liaison with Information Technology contractor
• General Administrative Support, mail run, answering phones, maintaining website and shared drive

Desired Requirements
• Knowledge of Accounting Principles, Bookkeeping procedures and systems
• Proficiency in MS Office especially Excel
• Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work
• Attention to detail
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Strong organizational and planning skills
