The Department of Natural and Cultural Resources, Division of Forests and Lands, has one full-time seasonal openings for twelve (12) weeks: beginning 5/22/20.
FOREST TECHNICIAN I
(Forest Management Technician I)
(Labor Grade 10, $14.39 per hour)
The Forest Technicians will assist Forest Management Bureau staff with implementing a variety of forestry and wildlife habitat projects on the Fox Research Forest and other state reservations as needed. Duties shall include conducting forest resource sampling and inventory; assisting with timber harvest preparation and marking; forest stand improvement activities such as pre-commercial thinning with chainsaws and brush-saws and trail maintenance. Applicants should be familiar with the use of compass, prism, and GPS. Duties require travel throughout the southwest portion of the state and the use of personal vehicles may be required. Applicants must posses a valid driver’s license and insurance as well as reliable transportation. Mileage will be reimbursed at the State rate of 57.5 cents per mile.
This position requires at least two years of formal forestry training from an accredited college or technical institute with major study in forestry or wildlife. No experience is required to apply.
