2021 NESAF Elections

New England SAF 2021 elections are now open until November 15th. All members have been e-mailed a ballot for voting. Each division or chapter has a unique ballot that includes the NESAF officer candidates and any candidates for that division or chapter. Below are the bios for several of the NESAF and local candidates:

Adam Moore

Adam Moore
Term: 2022 – 2024

Adam Moore is the Executive Director of Sheriff’s Meadow Foundation, the land trust for the island of Martha’s Vineyard. He has served in this position since 2008. From 2001 to 2008, he was the Executive Director and Secretary-Forester of the Connecticut Forest & Park Association. From 1998 to 2001, he was the Land Superintendent for the Martha’s Vineyard Land Bank Commission, and from 1996 to 1998, he was a Forester for Connwood Foresters, Inc. Adam earned a Master of Forestry degree from the Yale School of the Environment in 1995 and a B.A. in Biology from Yale College in 1992. Adam has been a member of the Society of American Foresters since 1993, and has twice chaired the NESAF Annual Winter Meeting. Adam lives on Martha’s Vineyard with his wife, Melissa, and their four children.

Mallory Bussell is the operations manager at Two Spruce LLC in Windsor, Maine. She has served as NESAF Secretary since 2016. Mallory graduated from the University of Maine, Orono with a B.S. in Forestry in 2012 and a minor in Business Administration. During her time at UMaine she served as the Student Chapter Vice President and President and was awarded the Maine Forestry School Outstanding Student Award. Mallory has worked as a research assistant at UMaine, a field intern with Plum Creek, a forester with Maine Custom Woodlands and a forester with Prentiss and Carlisle.

Donn Downey

Donn Downey

Donn Downey is a consulting forester and co-founder of Forest Metrix, a company that develops forest inventory software. Based in Thetford, Vermont, Donn has degrees from Colby College in Economics (1999) and from Antioch University in Conservation Biology (2014). He has presented and exhibited at numerous SAF Chapter, Regional and National meetings on behalf of Forest Metrix. He is a frequent contributor to The Forestry Source writing about inventory and GPS topics. He has been the NESAF Treasurer since 2016.

I am a Staff Forester for LandVest, Inc. located in the most northern region of New Hampshire. I was heavily involved with SAF when I was a student, and I am now ready to become involved in SAF from the prospective of a young professional. I have a lot of passion and enthusiasm for Forestry, and I would love to share that excitement with the members of Granite State SAF by serving as your vice- chair!

I am a retired forest policy professor (SUNY-ESF and UNB). I have been an SAF member for 34 years. I was elected a fellow in 1999. During the 1990’s I served as the Chair of SAF’s national Committee on Forest Policy and was co-editor of the Journal of Forestry in the early 2000’s. I am currently a trustee for the Society for the Protection of NH Forests and serve as vice-chair of its Policy Advisory Committee.

Susan is a Consulting Forester and Owner of Saddleback Mountain Forestry & Environmental Consulting, LLC, in Northwood, NH. Susan has been a member of SAF since 1982 and has previously served SAF as the Illinois SAF State Chair (1998), Membership Committee Chair (2000), Co-Chair Membership Committee (2001), and as a member of the National Leadership Academy Committee (1997-1998). She currently serves as Treasurer for the Granite State SAF (2020-present). Susan earned her B.S. in Forest Resource Management from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale, and also holds a M.S. degree in Botany from Western Illinois University, and a Ph.D. from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale in Plant Biology.

Kris was hired by FSM in 2007 to help meet FSM’s growing land stewardship needs. She conducts ground and aerial monitoring for many of the current easements and compiles baseline documentation for new projects. She received an M.S. in Forest Management from the University of Maine. Kris has served on the executive committee of the Maine division of the Society of American Foresters, with the New England Region Conference On Forest Engineering, and with Maine Project Learning Tree, among other organizations. When she’s not at the office Kris likes taking long walks with her dogs and introducing her children to all the wonders of the outside.

Brandon has been an operations forester for the Seven Islands Land Company for 7 years. He is a Maine native with a B.A. from Sterling College in Vermont and a M.F. from the University of Maine. Brandon participated in internships with CFRU and SFMA while in school. Brandon has been a licensed forester since 2018 and has been an SAF member since 2014. Brandon enjoys the fall colors, practicing silviculture in the northern forest and mountains with viewsheds.
