Woodland Services is Hiring for the 2023 Field Crew

Long View Forest is seeking qualified applicants for a seasonal position with our Woodland Services Division beginning May 8th, 2023.

Long View Forest is an employee-owned and operated company that provides landowners with complete services for the care of forestland through our Woodland Services, Forest Management, and Contracting Divisions. Check out our website here: www.longviewforest.com.

Woodland Services crew members focus primarily on large scale habitat restoration projects for private, federal/state agencies, and municipalities involving restoration plantings, timber stand improvement and chemical treatments of invasive plants in varying habitats across Vermont, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts.

Anticipated Start and End Dates: May 8, 2023 – November 3, 2023
• We have some flexibility on these dates-please be in touch if your schedule is different
• There is also some potential to convert a seasonal role into a full-time job

Qualified Candidates must:
1. Be highly motivated, with a strong work ethic and a willingness to learn
2. Have good and timely communication skills, know how to ask the right questions, and show constant attention to detail. Communication includes daily text messaging and cell phone calls to coordinate work activities
3. Have a valid driver’s license and a personal vehicle
4. Be able to eagerly and independently take on daily tasks and responsibilities and work as part of a team
5. Must be available 40 hours or more per week including occasional weekend work
6. Must be able to travel up to 2 hours from home, work in variable weather, terrain and have a positive attitude

Qualified applicants will ideally:
1. Have or be in the process of obtaining a degree in a Natural Resources field of study
2. Have at least 6 months of experience performing chemical control treatments for invasive plants
3. Be familiar with the identification of invasive/native plants of New England or be able to learn them quickly
4. Have other forestry training and experience as well as an interest in a forest management career

Initial Pay and Benefits:
Hourly: $16 – $20 (depending on experience)
– Paid time off accruing with work hours
– Cell Phone Reimbursement of $15.00 per pay period
– Personal Supply & Equipment Funds: $1-$3 per hour of fieldwork
– Mileage Reimbursement: $0.63 per mile over 20 miles per day
We have limited seasonal housing available.
