Forest Technicians will assist Forest Management Bureau Foresters with implementing a variety of forestry and wildlife habitat projects on state reservations in the southern portion of the state. Duties shall include conducting forest resource sampling and inventory; assisting with timber harvest preparation and marking; forest stand improvement activities such as pre-commercial thinning with chainsaws and brush-saws and trail maintenance. Applicants should be familiar with the use of compass, prism, diameter tape, Biltmore stick and GPS data collection. Duties require travel throughout the southern portion of the state and the use of personal vehicles may occasionally be necessary. Applicants must possess a valid driver’s license and insurance as well as reliable transportation. Mileage will be reimbursed at the State rate of 65.5 cents per mile.

Position duty station is Bear Brook State Park in Allenstown NH

This position requires at least two years of formal forestry training from an accredited college or technical institute with major study in forestry or wildlife. No experience is required to apply.
