It is ALPINE’s (Academics for Land Protection in New England) great pleasure to present the Charles H.W. Foster Award to one of the region’s distinguished public universities, the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and to honor David Kittredge, one of the University’s most dedicated and effective professors, both on the campus in Amherst, and through extension programs that reach land owners across the state.
The 2019 award will be presented by ALPINE co-founder Dr. David Foster, Director of the Harvard Forest at Harvard University and will be accepted by UMass Amherst Deputy Chancellor, Steven Goodwin. The ceremony will include a keynote address by Massachusetts Secretary of Environmental Affairs, Katie Theoharides, and remarks by distinguished UMASS alumni in the conservation field, as well as several speakers will honoring the work of David Kittredge. There will be a reception immediately following the award ceremony.
