The Family Forest Carbon Program, a program of the American Forest Foundation and The Nature Conservancy, supports America’s family forest owners with resources and payments to manage land with climate-friendly sustainable practices to grow more resilient forest, conserve biodiversity, add value to timber stands, and mitigate climate impacts. We are partnering with Franklin Land Trust, a regional land trust in Western/Central Massachusetts to host trainings for foresters on the program.  Attend one of two sessions offered.

Trees sequester and store carbon as they grow. The longer they grow, the more carbon they take out of the atmosphere. Forests are also vulnerable to the effects of our already changing climate. Having a diverse forest of different age trees, including more mature trees, helps create a forest that is more resilient long-term, protecting this important carbon sink and providing other critical benefits such as habitat and clean water.

Trainings hosted by the American Forest Foundation, The Nature Conservancy and the Franklin Land Trust.

Dates:

Tuesday, February 7, 2023, Noon – 3 pm ET

Wednesday, February 8, 2023, 3 pm – 6 pm ET

Online training provides:

  • Overview of the FFCP
  • Scientific methodology
  • Land eligibility requirements
  • Management practices: Grow Older Forests and Enhance Your Woodlands
