Forests as Complex Systems: A Festschrift for Chad Oliver
Oct 11, 2019
The Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies will be hosting a Festschrift honoring the career of Pinchot Professor Chadwick Dearing Oliver. Chad has been a friend, colleague, and mentor to many; he has made major intellectual contributions to forest science; and, he has actively sought to bring research and practice together through outreach and capacity-building. To celebrate Chad’s career, we have brought together a diverse group of his former students to present a series of talks on the theme of forest complexity. Please join us in celebrating Chad.
The theme of the symposium is Forests as Complex Systems. Over the past decade there has been considerable discussion about forests as complex systems. Chad has been keenly interested in complex systems and his work on forest stand dynamics, landscape management, and sustainability have all focused on emergent properties in complex ecological and/or social systems
