OPEN CALL FOR PRESENTATIONS
Short talk open call – Technical sessions on Wednesday, March 25, 2020 from 2:00-3:20 and 3:40-5:00
At the suggestion of several folks, this year we have an open call for 20 minute short talks for at least two technical sessions – longer versions of very popular Flash Talks. This call is for field foresters, professors, scientists, students, and others who have an informative story to share. We are especially interested in new and cutting edge information and observations. Please send in a proposed title, author’s names, affiliations, locations, lead author’s contact information, and short abstract (strict 300 word maximum for body) to Jeffrey Ward (Jeffrey.firstname.lastname@example.org) by December 6, 2019. As there are a limited number of slots, Nicole Rogers, Tony D’Amato, Paul Catanzaro, and Jeff Ward will evaluate the proposed talks and extend invitations via email to those selected by January 3, 2020. As in years past, the abstracts will be published and permanently archived in the spring issue of the NESAF News Quarterly.
Posters and Flash Talks – Thursday, March 26 from 10:30-11:30 (posters), 3:40-5:00 (flash talks)
To engage all members, we are seeking both traditional poster presentations and flash talks. Researchers, field foresters, and other land managers are encouraged to participate with a poster or flash talk, as sharing your experiences will benefit the entire membership.
An abstract is required for either poster or for a flash talk. The abstract includes a title and author’s names, affiliations, and locations, lead author’s contact information, and whether the submission is being considered for a poster or flash talk. The body of the abstract (not including names, etc.) is limited to 300 words. The deadline for submission is February 22, 2020.
The lead authors of posters and flash talks accepted for presentation will be notified by email by March 6, 2020 and accepted abstracts will be included in the Spring NESAF News Quarterly.
Poster Guidelines: Posters will be in a prominent location and available for viewing on March 25th with the Poster Session on March 26th. NESAF will provide easels and 48 x 48 in foam core board for display. Flash Talk Guidelines: The flash talk session is on March 26th from 3:15 to 4:30. Up to ten presentations will be selected from submitted abstracts. The 10-minute timeframe is strictly enforced with 7 minutes for presentation and 3 minutes for questions.
To secure a poster space and submit your flash talk abstract for consideration, contact Tony D’Amato (email@example.com) by February 21, 2020.
